8th of March celebration for the poor women in the village was meant to be a one-time action – innovative method of non-institutional support. But, the old-to-old self-help groups have continued to celebrate this day in the following years.
In the beginning it was a celebration made for a group of 40 women, which was held in the elders club in Kamenica. Today, it’s a celebration gathering over 100 women and is held in the school gym with live music.
Even though the celebration is growing larger, the concept was left unchanged. The group strives to secure the support of the local donors, so that every woman gets a gift and the poor women can participate in the celebration without charges.
